Late last week, 28 Made in the Midlands members attended The Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry for the last Best Practice event of November 2020. In this article, we look back at the event.

Starting out in 2010, The Manufacturing Technology Centre, or MTC for short, is an independent Research and Technology Organisation that was born with the objective of bridging the gap between the worlds of academia and industry. Within the centre, they develop innovative manufacturing processes and technologies, all within an agile, and low-risk environment - whilst in partnership with industry, academia, and other institutions.

Members started arriving at 9 am, before starting to network with other guests over breakfast. Before long, the group introduce themselves, via the 60-second pitch, before listening to MTC’s Best Practices presentation.

Though, as the Made in Group continues to push their year-long ‘Backing Britain’ campaign, Neill Smith from MTC, who heads up the business development department spoke to Made in the Midlands about how MTC is Backing Britain, and how it plays into the company's Best Practices.

Speaking, Neill said; “MTC is backing Britain in a number of ways. First of all, we support British manufacturing in terms of productivity, technology and automation. We’re helping British companies become more productive, more competitive, and therefore keeping more businesses on the shores of Britain.

We’re also helping companies reshore work back from China and the Far East to come back and manufacture here in the UK.”
