Made in Group’s Laura Rogers is on her way to being a STEM ambassador as she takes up the role of STEM representative for Made Futures - a groundbreaking virtual careers exhibition taking place from 22nd -26th March 2021.
STEM ambassadors offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value they give in life and careers. For Made Futures, Laura will be responsible for ensuring colleges and universities around the UK are aware of the Made Futures project.
Laura, Office Manager at the Made in Group, has registered to become a STEM ambassador and is currently waiting on her induction and ID card. Once Laura has been issued the role officially, she will be able to volunteer at her local STEM ambassador hub helping youngsters increase their presentation skills, confidence, sense of achievement, and satisfaction with their work.
As the official representative for the Made Futures initiative, Laura will be the point of contact between colleges or universities and the Made in Group’s members to ensure students and graduates are aware of the opportunities in the sector, and at the Made Futures Careers exhibition. As part of the role, Laura will be able to help out at local STEM events and encourage students to consider further study of STEM subjects and progression into related careers. Laura said:
“I'm very excited to be embarking on my STEM Ambassador journey and am looking forward to interacting with younger people as a STEM volunteer. I want to encourage the next generation to take up a career in the engineering and manufacturing sector, particularly females as they are underrepresented in the industry, and STEM is the perfect way to do this.”
Laura will be representing the West Midlands STEM ambassador hub when she is enrolled as an ambassador. Made Futures is a 1-week virtual exhibition to help people back into work, encourage young people to consider roles in the sector, and help members grow their business and attract new talent.
