The #mimworldcup has kicked off on Twitter. Here's how it works...

Keep an eye on our twitter page @madeinthemids during the World Cup as we'll be running our very own Made in the Midlands alternative.

We'll be tweeting 32 things associated with manufacturing across the region -automotive companies, industrialists, counties and food & drink made here. Ultimately the things that make us proud and really sum us up.

Just like the real thing, these will be divided into eight groups of four 'teams' and each day the two most popular, voted for by our followers, will go through into the knock-out rounds. Still with me? Good...

So for example Group B contains:

Jaguar Land Rover

Warwickshire

William Brinton (carpets)

Lea & Perrins

So if JLR and William Brinton are the most popular, for instance, they'll go through into the draw for the last 16 knock-out phase of the tournament.

The Made in the Midlands World Cup winner will be announced on the Friday 11th July in right here in Pendeford, just before the actual final in the not as glamorous locale of Rio de Jainero.

We look forward to seeing the results...don't forget to use the #mimworldcup hashtag.

The MIM offices will be open for all of the 5pm World Cup games between Monday and Thursday. So you're very welcome to come over and join us around the big screens here for drinks and nibbles in a relaxed atmosphere.
