Trade association championing British manufacturing, Made in Group, recently took on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) graduate to massively improve the organization's offering. David Mcdonald, the AI graduate from the University of Birmingham, joined the team in January and is excited to help with ‘member matchmaking’ and other research-based projects to ensure members make the most out of their membership.
The appointment of the AI graduate, David, is a result of the £175,000 grant offered to the Made in Group by Birmingham City University (BCU). David has been offered the position to join the group for 2 years as part of the university’s Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP).
David will be carrying out extensive research to help the business better promote its services and share useful, targeted content amongst its members. David said:
“I have spent a lot of time at uni, the last 7 years in fact, so I am excited to have this opportunity to put my skills into practice. I applied for the role because it was everything I was looking for - tackling real problems within the industry.”
He continued: “I am hoping my research will help the company expand and improve the group’s offerings and benefits to the members”
BCU has been a patron to Made in the Midlands for the past 10 years and is a massive supporter of the group’s mission to challenge the erosion of British Industry, help close the skills gap and support the manufacturing community. Jason Pitt, CEO of the Made in Group added:
“Thanks to the grant offered by BCU, Artificial Intelligence efficiency will massively improve our offering as we will be able to connect like-minded businesses more quickly. Whilst there may be fewer connections as a result of this, AI will ensure they are better suited and more meaningful.”
One of David’s main responsibilities will be to assist the group in ‘matchmaking’ like-minded members in the networking sessions that are part of the Made Virtual Breakfast Mornings.
The Made in Group is excited to have David on board and looks forward to what the future will hold with him as part of the team.
