Three members of Made in the Midlands featured on the Best Companies to work for in the Midlands, representing the growing strength and the change of perception within the manufacturing and engineering sector.
Multidisciplinary engineering firm and Made in the Midlands Patron adi Group, recent platinum members of the Made in Group MSC Industrial Supply Co., who specialise in the supply of metalworking and MRO products and services were ranked 71st and 65th respectively on the list that featured such companies as Deloitte, Go Ape and Warburtons.
FBC Manby Bowdler, patrons of Made in the Midlands and specialist solicitors in the manufacturing sector were the highest ranked Made in the Midlands member on the list, sitting 37th on the list and earning a score of 708.8 on the Regional Best Companies Index (RBCI).
The Regional Best Companies Index (RBCI) is one of the most rigorous way of measuring employee engagement.
To feature on the list, organisations are required to provide 30 or more responses on a 70 question survey in an area to be eligible to feature. The results are then calculated from the responses that are aligned to the 8 Factors of Workplace Engagement. The final score is normalised for company size band and calculated out of 1000.
The 75 company-strong list, compiled by Best Companies, recognises employers who are creating more engaging and exciting workplaces. Research has shown that management teams who rank on the index understand that engaging their workforce is a highly effective way to recruit and retain staff in challenging markets.
With the likes of Instarmac, Warburtons, Hydrock, Solid Solutions and Swiftool Precision also making the top 75 companies to work for, the perception of the manufacturing and engineering sector is changing to be a sector where people actively want to work in.
