In the first edition of this series, Made in the Midlands will conduct a weekly round-up of all of our member news. Our members regularly post content regarding: history, charity, investments and product launches.
Shropshire-based, Filtermist International Limited impressed over 65 members by showcasing their state of the art facility at the latest Made in the Midlands breakfast event. Filtermist Managing Director, James Stansfield said: I was amazed by the amount of attendees. I had no idea that this many people would attend, so it's been a fantastic turnout which has made it worthwhile.
adis Telecom division revealed that they have been developing a bespoke full handset solution for the employees of fellow Made in the Midlands member, Threeway Pressings. Threeway Pressings, Managing Director Phil Stanley explained: After meeting Alex from adi Telecom at a Made in the Midlands Breakfast Event, we have built a great relationship. We are constantly looking to improve our business processes through the introduction of technology and thought it was a great opportunity to do just that.
Furthermore, Voestalpine Rotec received the esteemed JLRQ plaque from STAs Senior Manager, Tom Blakeman and Senior Purchasing Manager, Seamus McGrath. The award presents Rotec with increased opportunities to work alongside JLR on future projects and is a testament to their high quality service. After investing over £1,000,000 in new technology within recent years, Rotec are certainly destined for a successful future.
Members celebrate historic landmarks, deals and events
Central Scanning Ltd celebrated 10 years of trading and provided a timeline review of company case studies including: The Porsche, Laurel & Hardy, Yamination Studios, A Shakespeare Story, The Evaders Sculpture. Central Scanning offer a variety of 3d Scanning and Reverse Engineering services, they also toasted to 10 more years of high quality service and vowed to stay ahead of the game for decades to come.
Andel Plastics won one of the biggest ever tooling projects in their history. Andel have a fully equipped injection moulding facility with 21 machines ranging from 30 to 200 tonnes. The contract was awarded for Andel to design and manufacture a suite of tools to manufacture 20 separate components. Managing Director, Graham Robinson was extremely excited that the project has been awarded to his UK based business.
Wolverhampton-based, Zaun Limited played their part in West Ham Uniteds historic first home Premier League game away from the Boleyn Ground. West Hams new London Stadium featured fencing from Zaun, who were the principal fencer at London 2012 Olympics. Zaun supplied five metre high security-rated Duo8 SR1 fencing in this latest revamp for the Hammers.
Heart charities receive £11,393 from fundraising members
adi Group started the week by revealing they had raised over £11,000 for their chosen charity partner Heart Research UK. adi have been fundraising since March and this incredible achievement was celebrated by their CEO, Alan Lusty who said: Im very impressed by the dedication of the adi team, they have raised a fantastic sum so far this year and I know they will continue with as much enthusiasm throughout 2016.
Stainless Steel Services Ltd celebrated Jon Rowley completing the Wolf Run to raise money for ACTION HEART, which has seen his raise £393 for the charity. It wasnt just any standard run, as Jon completed the race wearing a tutu. This was a particularly special story, as Jon suffered a heart attack only 3 and a half years ago. It is fantastic to see him compete in such a gruelling race for a phenomenal cause.
Members launch innovative products and courses
Additionally, Zaun Limited introduced barcode railings into their range for corporate marketing messages or innovative learning experiences for students. Zauns Marketing Manager, Steve Roberts said: We see the barcode railing as a fun and ingenious form of differentiation within a practical solution to securing perimeters or demarcating different property areas. The railings are available in heights ranging from 0.5 metres to 2.0 metres.
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, who are based in Telford, Shropshire have released System Software Update v1.3 for its Leica Absolute Tracker AT930 and AT960 laser trackers. Markus Steiner, Product Manager of Hexagon MI explained: Helping users make the most of our products is a central goal of our business, and the usability improvements were introducing with System Software Update v1.3 represent a big step forward in this regard, particularly in the area of automated measurement.
Black Country Skills Factory have launched a further programme of courses for Autumn/Winter 2016-17. Course topics will include: Material Planning & Production Control, Lean, Communication Skills and Developing & Coaching Staff, and will all be held at a manufacturing business in the Black Country. This is the only scheme of its kind within the UK to focus specifically on the HVM sector.
Data Interchange is G-Cloud 8 Compliant
Rutland-based, Data Interchange have been awarded a place as a supplier on the UK Governments G-Cloud 8 Framework. Ieuan Friend, Marketing Director at Data Interchange said: In order to be accepted on to the G-Cloud framework, Data Interchange secured approval against a strict set of evaluation criteria and assurance checks. We look forward to continuing to work with public sector organisations and make accessing our services as easy as possible though the G-Cloud framework.
AV Birch celebrate investment in apprentices
One of our newest Bronze members, AV Birch Ltd posted their first ever microsite news by announcing their investment in two apprentices. Jake Beech, 17 and Ben Clark, 16 have been placed on two-year training apprenticeships at AV Birch. Jake will specialise in electrical engineering and will be a part of AV Automation, where he will wire up control panels and sensors. Ben will learn how to fabricate products such as cranes, presses or access platforms.
