We are hugely excited to welcome leading industrialist David Wright as our non-executive chairman, a new role which will add huge benefits to the organisation.

David has an impressive pedigree in the manufacturing and engineering arena. He is formerly head of operations at the Morgan Motor Company, chief executive when the Manufacturing Advisory Service launched in the West Midlands and is currently Director, Strategic Developments at Coventry University.

The role will include chairing our AGM, speaking at events including the MIM annual exhibition and awards ceremony.

Speaking about his new role David said: “I am delighted to be joining Made in the Midlands at such an interesting and exciting time.  I’m very impressed with the way in which the organisation has established itself as a tremendously proactive and value-adding forum for its members. I’m really looking forward to being a part of the continuing growth of Made in the Midlands and to engaging more closely with our members, many of whom I’ve known for a number of years.”

Managing Director Jason Pitt added: “This is a great coup for us and builds on the momentum that we have created recently. David’s experience speaks for itself and we will benefit greatly from his appointment.”

We are on the Growth Accelerator programme and as a result have made significant investments in people, processes and technology over the past six months. This best practice approach mirrors that of our membership.

We are currently finalising plans for their annual exhibition in May. In an industry first we'll be opening their doors to schools and colleges to delegates at 3pm. From that time onwards teachers and pupils will have exclusive access to the Midlands manufacturing community to find out more about industry and the careers within it.

Jason concluded: “2014 will be a huge year for Made in the Midlands. Our focus will be on challenging the poor perceptions of manufacturing and engineering as a credible career choice. We also aim to put the successes and concerns of our members at the forefront of key decision makers thinking.”
