Amidst the drama of Euro 2016, Made in the Midlands were invited to participate in Higgs and Sons 10th annual charity football tournament on July 23rd at Stourbridge Rugby Club.
Higgs and Sons charity football tournament is organised in support of the firms chosen charity for the year. For the 10th anniversary of the tournament, 48 teams from across the region helped to raise an astonishing £7,000 for the Stroke Association.
Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK changing the world for people affected by stroke. Their research has helped to improve treatments and care which has saved tens of thousands of lives.
Furthermore, Stroke Association have helped hundreds of thousands of people get through one of the most frightening experiences of their lives and build a life after stroke.
Made in the Midlands played in Group F against Lambert Smith Hampton, Yorkshire Bank, Curo Chartered Accountants, Merito Financial Services and Ormerod Rutter (2).
Unfortunately, we did not qualify from the group stages and accumulated a record of zero wins, two draws and three losses. However, we would like to congratulate Curo Chartered Accountants for winning our group.
Made in the Midlands CEO, Jason Pitt said: Although we didnt cover ourselves in glory on the pitch, we are delighted to have helped contribute towards raising £7,000 for the Stroke Association off the pitch. We are sure the tournament will continue to grow in the future and we would like to thank Higgs and Sons for being excellent hosts.
The tournament was eventually won by Mazars who beat Santander in a closely contested final. Last years tournament raised £4,000 for Alzheimer's Society. It is great to see the tournament continue to grow in stature year by year and we are sure Higgs and Sons will continue to raise incredible amounts for charitable causes in the future.
