The quest for speed seems to be an unofficial theme of this years Made in the Midlands annual exhibition, represented by the appearance at the show of the Bloodhound SSC - the latest all-British attempt to break the world land speed record.
However, one or two other members also have their eyes on the speedometer, although their focus is on two wheels rather than four.
With more than 20 years experience in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a wide variety of control systems within a multitude of industries, Brierley Hill-based Banelec considers itself one of the leading suppliers of control systems in the UK.
The company, which made its MIM Expo debut last year, is planning on making a lasting impression with visitors to this years show.
Occupying pride of place on Stand 103 will be Managing Director Dean Banner's 200mph Kawasaki Ninja H2 sportbike.
Visitors to the stand will be able to get up close and personal with the machine while they talk to staff about what the company does.
Banelec is also using the exhibition to hand out its brand new automation brochure, which has been produced to coincide with the companys new video.
The company is in the second year of its MIM membership and is a strong advocate of the network.
It states: We have been a member of Made in the Midlands for over a year now and have enjoyed the opportunities we have been given to meet and network with other manufacturing companies within the Midlands. Since joining last year we have increased our membership to Gold cover, which allowed us to hold our breakfast morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Meanwhile, De-Met is a principal mechanical engineering company specialising in sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, fabricating, welding and powder coating.
The Dudley-based company specialises in the manufacture of a diverse range of products from folded steel double-skin doors and panels, through to smaller intricate laser cut parts used in the manufacture of industrial locks.
It has the capability to manufacture all products in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium.
The firms in house powder coating plant can powder coat items up to 6m in length, 1.8m high and 800mm wide. This, together with the LVD Laser, LVD Turret punch, CNC brake presses and fabrication shop enables it to offer a one-stop-shop service.
The company has attributed its continuing growth to investment in the most up-to-date machinery.
As a new member of MIM, it is the first time the company has exhibited at the Expo and it is looking to make an immediate impression.
To help achieve this, focal point of the stand will be a Suzuki GSXR1000R racing bike. It will also be launching its new company brochure.
It has invited visitors to come and view the bike and to talk about their sheet metal fabrication or powder coating requirements.
The company is exhibiting on Stand 110.
Hundreds of firms are exhibiting and thousands of delegates are expected to visit the exhibition at Coventrys Ricoh Arena on June 21.
The event is now in its ninth year and bigger than ever, with firms exhibiting representing the full manufacturing spectrum in the region.
